Job description

The Business Intelligence and Analysis Lead (BIAL) is a critical role that combines deep analytical expertise with strategic business acumen. This position is responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights that drives decision-making leveraging advanced analytics, market intelligence, and industry knowledge to support growth strategies, distribution and operations’ optimization, and enhanced competitive positioning.

Accountabilities
1. Strategic Analysis and Planning

  • Lead the development of comprehensive market analyses, including market size, share, trends, and growth opportunities for corn and rice seeds
  • Conduct scenario planning and forecasting to support both mid to long-term strategic decisions
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and provide insights on competitor strategies, pricing, product and positioning, program offering, distribution and people placement
  • Collaborate with commercial leadership teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with business objectives
  • Develop demand forecasting models to support production planning and inventory management
  • Derive insights from historical data and market trends to drive precision and accuracy on sales and POG forecasts

2. Data Management and Analytics

  • Oversee the collection, integration, and management of data from various sources including sales, marketing, finance, agronomy and P&S
  • Develop and maintain robust data models and analytics platforms to support business intelligence needs
  • Implement advanced analytics techniques, including predictive modeling and machine learning, to uncover patterns and trends on customer buying behavior
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across all analytics initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and company policies in all analytics activities
  • Develop and maintain data governance frameworks and best practices

3. Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Design, produce and maintain regular performance dashboards with insights on key trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of sales/POG performance vis-à-vis market share/profitability in areas that we operate
  • Provide data-driven and insight-based recommendations for performance improvement and course/strategy corrections

4. Customer and Market Insights

  • Develop and maintain customer segmentation models to support targeted marketing and sales strategies
  • Analyze customer purchasing patterns/behaviors, preferences, and loyalty to inform customer retention and acquisition strategies
  • Conduct voice of customer (VOC) analyses to identify unmet needs and opportunities for innovation
  • Monitor and analyze emerging trends
  • Conduct price elasticity analyses (not limited to NPIs) and support pricing strategies across different market segments

5. Sales and Marketing Effectiveness

  • Assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and sales initiatives through ROI analysis, working closely with the brand and campaign managers
  • Provide data-driven insights to optimize sales territory alignment and resource allocation through RADL
  • Analyze the performance of different sales channels and distribution networks
  • Support the development of data-driven customer engagement strategies

6. Innovation and Digital Transformation

  • Lead the adoption of new digital tools and technologies to enhance commercial planning and business intelligence capabilities
  • Explore and implement data visualization techniques to improve data presentation and articulation
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in data science, artificial intelligence, and their applications

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in business intelligence, business planning, data analytics, or related roles
  • Strong background in the agriculture industry, with specific knowledge of the seeds business preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate complex analyses into actionable business recommendations
  • Expertise in data analysis tools and languages and business intelligence platforms (e.g. Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, SAS, the like)
  • Excellent understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and database management
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional projects and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Experience with agile methodologies and data-driven decision-making processes

Preferred:

  • Experience working with senior leadership and exposure to different stakeholders (both and region and global)
  • Master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Agricultural Economics, or related field
  • MBA with a quantitative focus
  • Advanced skills in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques
  • Knowledge of hybrid seed technology, agronomy, commodities, networks and how it impacts the business and industry
