Job description

We are seeking a dynamic leader to head our Crop Protection Exposure Science Platform in North America. This senior role will drive technical excellence in dietary exposure, exposure study delivery, and exposure analytics to support product registrations across the region. The successful candidate will collaborate with key stakeholders across Product Safety, Environmental Safety, Human Safety, and Global teams while leading a distributed team of scientists across the US and Canada. This position plays a crucial role in shaping the future of exposure science and ensuring regulatory compliance for our crop protection portfolio.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and deliver comprehensive exposure science outputs that align with North American business objectives, including GLP-compliant studies and analytical methods development.
  • Provide strategic direction and technical leadership for the CP Exposure Science organization, representing Syngenta both internally and externally at regional and global levels.
  • Drive innovation and development of emerging exposure science capabilities, ensuring the team stays at the forefront of scientific advancements and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team across multiple locations, implementing effective succession planning and talent development strategies.
  • Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for R&D projects and science advocacy activities, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within NA Exposure Science and CP Product Safety, while actively contributing to global strategic initiatives through leadership team participation.

Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in a scientific discipline relevant to dietary and environmental exposure, with 10+ years of postgraduate experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the techno-regulatory landscape, including deep knowledge of government authorities, academia, and key industry influencers.
  • Proven track record of leading large, diverse teams including team leads and senior technical staff, with exceptional talent development capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex scientific and regulatory information to develop and execute compelling strategic initiatives across global functions.
  • Strong capability to navigate complexity and ambiguity while resolving business-critical issues through collaborative approaches.
  • Outstanding relationship-building skills with demonstrated success in influencing internal and external stakeholders globally, backed by scientific credibility.
