P&S Regional Data Scientist - Modelling and Analytics

Accountabilities:

The Production and Supply (P&S) Regional Data Scientist – Modelling and Analytics will develop and maintain Seeds Production Planning (SPP) Crops Models for Optimization of Crop allocations and support the regional team in the implementation of further optimization models, knowledges, and methodologies. The position is a global role supporting Global Seeds initiatives and projects across regions and functions within P&S. The position will also help regional Crop Model users with their technical requests and improve their modeling knowledge; be the champion of Modeling and Optimization methodologies in the region; develop statistical forecasting tools for specific needs within P&S functions; and, support data availability, integrity and quality in Syngenta Systems to improve accessibility for visualization tools (Qlik sense / Power BI / Tableau).

Specific job duties include the following:

1. Effectively communicate insights and proposed actions to the relevant teams and develop tools to support execution.
2. Explore and conduct analysis on business improvement opportunities (including ad hoc requests) and continuously seek out new ways and methodologies to analyze the available data and improve analytic methods.
3. Co-develop together with Analytics team predictive/prescriptive modelling capacities for the Data Insights.
4. Map out data needs and sources together with the business functional teams and Data Business Analyst.
5. Maintain existing P&S models based on supply chain modelling software (eg. Llamasoft Supply Chain Guru).
6. Build new P&S models in close collaboration with experienced functional experts.
7. Enable data-driven decisions within and across functions focusing on analysis that is immediately actionable and can create impact to the business. 8) Be the innovator in how we can use data and information as a strategic asset.

Requirements:

This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Science, or related field and 3 years of related experience in delivering data and analytics solutions, including experience with complex unstructured data sets.

Must also have 36 months of experience with each of the following:

1. Data science and (hybrid) modelling of Life Science applications using Machine Learning, Artificial intelligence, Statistics, and Modelling.
2. Working with each of the following tools and technologies: AWS, LLamasoft, Qlik sense, Power BI, Tableau, SAP, Python, JavaScript, and R.
3. Interpreting large datasets, clearly articulating their business impact and then creating dashboards to turn these data sets into business insights for decision making.

All experience may have been gained concurrently. Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master’s program.

Must pass a background check and drug test before beginning employment. Position based at company headquarters in Downers Grove, IL; may telecommute from any location in the U.S. Domestic and international travel required up to 20% of time.
